Glazed Brussels Sprouts With Chestnuts
Serves 4 To 6
Ingredients
1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed
Salt and pepper
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon sugar
1 (16-ounce) can peeled chestnuts in water, drained
Instructions
- Bring sprouts, 1⁄2 cup water, and 1⁄2 teaspoon salt to boil in 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Lower heat, cover, and simmer, shaking pan once or twice to redistribute sprouts, until knife tip inserted in center of sprout meets no resistance, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain well, cut into quarters, and set aside.
- Heat 2 tablespoons butter and sugar in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves. Stir in chestnuts, turn heat to low, and cook, stirring occasionally, until chestnuts are glazed, about 3 minutes.
- Add remaining 1 tablespoon butter and sprouts and cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve.
