Eisenhower’s 5-Star Holiday Eggnog

Ingredients

12 egg yolks
1lb white granulated sugar
1 qt bourbon (rum or brandy can substitute)
1 qt half-and-half
1 qt whipping cream.
Ground nutmeg

Instructions

Put the 12 egg yolks in an electric mixer. Feed in the granulated sugar very slowly to get a smooth, clear light mixture. When this is perfectly smooth, add the bourbon very slowly (should take about 30 minutes). Add one quart of half-and-half.

Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. 30 minutes before serving, beat the whipping cream until moderately thick, then slowly mix in to the mixture. Serve garnished with nutmeg.
